UKRAINE

Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe, after Russia. In its western part the Carpathian mountains gradually give way to fertile plains; while the eastern part is more industrialised.
Trains are operated by UZ (see link below) and those from the west cross into Ukraine mainly from Hungary, Slovakia or Poland.
INTERN ATIONAL CONNECTIONS:
Austria and Hungary: There are two daily services from Kyiv via Chop to Budapest, one of which extends to Vienna. There is an additional service from Kyiv to Budapest and Vienna requiring a change at Mukachevo and an additional Mukachevo to Budapest service. The standard gauge track from Chop and Uzhhorod been has re-instated and through passenger services from Uzhhorod to Wien and Bratislava, via Budapest resumed on 12 September 2025.
Poland: There are two daily services from Kyiv to Warsaw and one to Krakow, Katowice and Wroclaw. Two daily services operate from Lviv to Warsaw requiring a change atRava Rudska.
Moldova: There is a daily service from Kyiv to Chisinau.
Romania: From 17 January 2023 a cross border passenger service started from Rakhiv (Ukraine) to Valea Viseului (Romania) with 2 daily pairs. This was discontinued on 28 May 2023 meaning that once again there are no passenger trains between Ukraine and Romania
